K12 is the highest peak in the Saltoro Mountains, which are a subrange of the Karakoram range.    From Islamabad, take the Karakoram Highway (KKH) towards the north, passing through Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Chilas.

   Continue on the KKH to Skardu, which is the largest town in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

   From Skardu, take the Skardu-Askole road towards the east.
